Biking for Ovarian Cancer Awareness

Coast-to-Coast for a Cure

My Mission

This year, I registered with Team TEAL - Miles Your Way because I want to raise awareness and funding for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC). Your support will help improve the lives of individuals, families and communities touched by ovarian cancer. I need your help to keep me pedaling despite the hills, the bad weather and headwinds. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.

My motivation in participating in this cross-country bicycle tour is to honor the memory of a great lady, my wife Leslie, and support an organization dedicated to battling this disease which affected Leslie for so many years. The tour is called the TransAm Express and is hosted by the Adventure Cycling Association, a national nonprofit dedicated to bicycle travel. I will start out on my own at Rehoboth Beach, DE and ride solo to Washington, DC, where I'll be part of a group riding to Florence, OR over a 2.5 month period. I'm the only participant who is doing the tour to support the NOCC. Leslie completed fifteen long-distance bike tours between 2009 and 2017, including riding cross-country several times and down the Pacific Coast, but the TransAm is the one cross-country ride Leslie and I were not able to attempt.

In this year of great challenges, one even greater challenge remains, saving more lives from ovarian cancer. Dollars raised for the NOCC support national programs and local market initiatives to heighten awareness of the subtle signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer, assist newly-diagnosed patients throughout the country, provide ongoing support to caregivers, and advocate for the advancement of ovarian cancer research. Your help and support will help other families navigate this disease and hopefully not experience the loss my family has.

Follow my journey by clicking on the "Blog" button at the top right corner of this page. I can't promise Steinbeck, but I will try to make each post at least somewhat interesting. And, if you care to, please join me to help those touched by ovarian cancer by donating today.

Leslie's family and I appreciate your support so much! Thank you!
